Where can I submit my work to Poetry?
We use Submittable to receive content for Poetry. Please visit our Submittable page for our full submission guidelines and open calls for work.
If you cannot use Submittable (poetry.submittable.com/ ) and would like to submit your work by mail, please send your submission to 61 W Superior St, Chicago, IL 60654 and include a self-addressed return envelope. If you do not include a return envelope, your submission will not receive a response.
Can you help me contact a poet?
The Poetry Foundation is not able to forward messages or provide contact information for individual poets, authors, or contributors. We recommend that you reach out to the poets’ publishers or agents, or search for contact information on the poets’ personal websites.
How can I use the poems on your website?
The poems on this site are available for free for personal use. You can share them via social media, links to our website, or printouts for personal or classroom use. However, we do not hold the copyright to these poems and cannot offer licenses for commercial use. For more information about our online poetry archive, please visit our Archive FAQ page.
Why can’t I find a poem on your site?
The Poetry Foundation acquires permission to reprint poems on our site. For a variety of reasons, we are not able to obtain permissions for every published poem. People work the archive, meaning poems expire and licenses are renewed based on human discretion. If we are missing a poem you expected to see, please read more in our suggestions FAQ on this page.
Who is eligible to apply for the Poetry Foundation grants?
Through the grants program, the Poetry Foundation funds nonprofit organizations based in the United States. If your nonprofit organization does not have a 501(c)(3) designation, you can apply using a fiscal sponsor with 501(c)(3) designation. (See the definition of fiscal sponsors below.) The Poetry Foundation does not provide grants to for-profit organizations or individuals.
